umberto beccaria is an italian pianist, born in Mondovì in 1996. His career is very rich and varied: he performs in solo recitals, chamber music concerts and as a soloist with orchestra for various festivals and venues in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Poland and Belgium; he also participates actively in the contemporary music scene. He has a catalogue of recordings that includes works by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Prokofiev, Schoenberg, Schubert, Schumann, Skrjabin, Szymanowski, Andrea Ravizza. He is a winner and finalist in major piano competitions. In addition to his work as a pianist, he is an active concert organiser, being the founder and artistic director of Classiche Armonie.
active as a chamber musician, he collaborates with chamber groups and soloists of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai and with the Amouage Quartet.
between 2017 and 2019 he conducted the Orchestra da Camera del Monferrato, working on music by Pergolesi, Cimarosa, Vivaldi, Bach, Corelli, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Chopin. With the MCOrchestra he performed as soloist Ludwig van Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto and Chopin’s Polonaise Brillante op.22. He has also performed as soloist with the Bacau Symphony Orchestra and the Bruni Symphony Orchestra of Cuneo Mozart’s Piano Concerto K.466.
after brilliantly graduating from the Conservatory, he attended an advanced course with Pietro De Maria, Ricardo Castro, Filippo Gamba, Andrea Lucchesini and Enrico Stellini at the Pinerolo Academy of Music, following the ‘Maria Tipo School’. He also studied at the ‘Stanislas Moniuszko’ Academy in Gdańsk, under the supervision of Maestro Andrzej Artykiewicz. He completed his studies at the Musik Akademie in Basel, obtaining a Master Performance in Maestro Filippo Gamba’s class. He also studied composition and conducting with Maestro Andrea Ravizza and has already written several compositions and transcriptions for ensembles and soloists.
he is very interested in contemporary music: he was a member of Sonic Space Basel and has performed on various occasions in chamber and solo ensembles, also performing many premieres and collaborating with important composers of our time such as Beat Furrer and Enno Poppe. He performed the premiere of ‘It’s only the end of the world’ by composer Anna Sowa at the Theater Basel. He is the pianist of Nersemble.
